APS has extensive experience in the synthesis, characterization and commercialization of polymer systems. Our CEO, Dr. Frank Harris, was formerly a Distinguished Professor of Polymer Science and Biomedical Engineering with the University of Akron’s prestigious College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering. Our Chief Technical Advisor, Dr. Stephen Cheng, is currently the Dean of the College. Drs. Harris and Cheng have collaborated for many years and patented a number of innovative polymers, including a family of polyimides that have been commercialized for use in liquid crystal displays to improve viewing angle and image quality. The professors also developed a polyimide film that is used commercially in optical interconnects to prevent signal loss and cross talk. Dr. Harris participated in the development and commercialization of a flexible fiberglass resin and a family of polymeric core-shell nanoparticles.
Important to our commercialization and sales efforts is our worldwide network of scientists in influential industrial and academic positions. This network is a result of the professors' combined 65 years of directing the research of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
APS has assembled a world class team of polymer scientists. The company currently employs nine full-time Ph.D.’s with deep expertise in organic synthesis towards the fabrication of novel monomeric compounds and polymers for high performance applications.
